Days where nothing disturbs the fantasy.

Where we’re allowed to believe that we’ll have all the

time we need

to play out desires; rehash every misery and failing.

Days where the sky is blue, the temperature perfect,

everyone complimentary

and our waistline

just where we like it.

Nights when the food is good, the wine superb;

lovers, kind and generous.

Where sleep is quiet and dreamless

and peace, a filmy veil across the planet.

We need this dream –

like naptime in kindergarten,

with someone more knowledgeable

than us saying

it’s okay,

go ahead,

be asleep.
